June 1998 Porsche announces decision to produce the Cayenne (SUV).
September 1999 Announcement of Leipzig as production site.
February 2000 Ground-breaking ceremony and hiring of first employee at Porsche Leipzig.
June 2000 The third model range is given the name Porsche Cayenne.
September 2000 Topping out ceremony for the production hall.
April 2001 Construction begins on Customer Centre and on the run-in track and test track.
June 2001 58 employees move into the Integration Centre – the office and communication centre of Porsche Leipzig.
October 2001 Topping out ceremony for the Customer Centre.
January 2002 Porsche announces decision to produce the Carrera GT high-performance sports car.
March 2002 Construction begins on the off- road track for driving safety training.
July 2002 Decision to produce the Carrera GT at the Leipzig location.
August 2002 Completion of all construction activities and opening ceremony of Porsche Leipzig.
December 2002 First customer car pick-up of the Cayenne at factory.
August 2003 to May 2006 Production of the Carrera GT (1,270 vehicles).
March 2004 The 50,000th Cayenne is built.
November 2004 Factory is expanded.
June 2005 The 100,000th Cayenne is built.
November 2005 5,000th factory pick-up of a Cayenne at the Customer Centre.
December 2005 Carrera GT number 1,111 is delivered to customer in the Middle East.
May 2006 Porsche announces decision to produce the Panamera at Leipzig site.
September 2006 Beginning of plant expansion. Production hall of around 25,000 square metres and a 23,500-square metre logistics centre are built for production of the Panamera.
November 2006 The 150,000th Cayenne is built.
December 2006 Change of generations. Production start of the 2nd generation Cayenne.
April 2007 Topping out ceremony for expanded facilities of the Porsche plant in Leipzig.
September 2007 Beginning of the expansion of the new Panamera assembly line.
January 2008 Employees celebrate the 200,000th Cayenne.
January 2008 Image film of the Porsche plant in Leipzig: “World of Emotions” is awarded first prize as best corporate film at the “International Film & Video Awards” in New York.
Spring 2008 Beginning of test operations of the new Panamera production facilities; assembly of the first prototype.
June 2008 2,000th event at the Customer Centre.
October 2008 The Porsche plant in Leipzig is awarded honorary certificate as “Excellent Training Company 2008” by the Leipzig Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
October 2008 Dedication and commissioning of the new training workshop.
December 2008 Production launch of the Cayenne Diesel.
March 2009 Employees celebrate the 250,000th Cayenne.
April 2009 Start of production (SOP) of the Panamera.
May 2010 Start of production of the second generation Cayenne.
March 2011 Resolution to expand the factory for new SUV – the Porsche Macan.
October 2011 Start of the third plant extension for production of the Macan.
March 2012 Construction begins on body shop, paint shop.
June 2012 Topping out ceremony for the body shop.
August 2012 Leipzig produces the 500,000th Porsche.
November 2012 Topping out ceremony for the paint shop.
February 2013 Completion of the first pilot series body of the Macan.
August 2013 First pilot series body of the Macan is painted.
November 2013 Start of production (SOP) of the Macan.
November 2013 World premiere of the Macan, concurrently in Los Angeles and Tokyo.
February 2014 Opening of extended Porsche plant in Leipzig.
